Q:According to media report, in the speech marking the 10th anniversary of the International Religious Freedom Act at the White House on July 14th, US President Bush talked about issues including religious freedom in China, saying that the US remembers those seeking religious freedom in China. How do you comment?

A: China is a country ruled by law. It is a well recognized fact that the Chinese Government protects the fundamental rights of citizens including religious freedom and Chinese citizens enjoy religious freedom according to law. It is also must be pointed out that all people are equal before the law and no one is allowed to violate the law or jeopardize national security and social stability. We urge the US to discard prejudice, take an objective and fair view of the status of religious freedom in China, and stop using relevant issues to interfere in China's internal affairs.
